Explanation
The 2001 Frankfurt Motor Show saw the introduction of a concept car that aroused great interest among BMW fans: the M3 CSL.
The use of those iconic three letters, which stand for Coupe Sport Leichtbau or "Coupé Sport Lightweight", confirmed that the company was considering an even more performance-oriented version of its highly regarded E46-generation M3 coupé.
The excitement generated by the early concept was so great that BMW's vision became a grand reality two years after its unveiling. Limited production of the M3 CSL began at the company's Regensburg plant in June 2003 and continued until December. A total of 1,383 M3 CSLs were built during this period.
The recipe was simple, but the results were exciting: the use of materials such as carbon fibre and the removal of all unnecessary equipment meant the CSL was a remarkable 110 kilograms lighter than the standard M3. Combined with an improved 360 horsepower straight-six engine, thrilling performance was guaranteed.
Our CSL, which has very low km, is a CSL in excellent condition that has preserved its originality thanks to its car collector owners from the past to the present.
